How we handle information when you use School Compass.
No login required
You can search and browse schools without creating an account. We do not operate a user registration system at launch.
Saved schools and history
If you save schools or view recently viewed lists, that information is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It is not transmitted to our servers and will not sync across devices. You can clear it by removing site data in your browser settings.
Public school data
School Compass displays publicly available school records from GIAS. Searching schools does not require personal information.
Paid report purchases
When you buy a School Compass paid digital report — Parent Report, Admissions Advantage, or Complete School Decision Report — payment is processed by Stripe. We store your purchase email, school URN, product type, and order status to generate and deliver your PDF. For purchase help contact help@ukschoolcompass.co.uk.
Analytics
We use privacy-conscious analytics (Plausible) to understand aggregate usage — for example page views, search activity, and checkout events. Analytics do not include saved school lists or raw search text tied to identifiable individuals. Plausible does not use cookies for tracking by default. Events include: search started, school viewed, compare started, sample report viewed, Parent Report CTA clicked, sticky mobile CTA clicked, compare CTA clicked, checkout started, checkout completed, and report downloaded.
Server logs
Standard web hosting logs may record IP addresses, timestamps, and request paths for security and reliability. Logs are retained for a limited period.
